The Testing and Demonstration Facility lies within easy access about 45 minutes north of Nashville, Tennessee.
The facility is geared towards work on phase separations with emphasis on:
• Oil / bitumen extraction from sands or silts
• Water recovery from sands or slimes.
A fundamental approach by TDI is the characterization of the feed materials so that the test work can be focused, leveraging the inherent material properties. This approach also establishes a baseline documentation which will impart a long-term relevance to the test work results.
As the separation of the phases is governed by the interactivity of these, TDI hosts the necessary equipment and know-how to be able to offer one-stop testing solutions with the focus on wholistic flowsheet development.
Good stewardship of client samples is ensured by chain-of-custody control, faithful recording of measurements and full documentation of the test results.
At TDI testing is paired with engineering. This ensures that not only the necessary scale-up data is produced through the test work, but the necessary test-engineering optimization is integral to the work product.
High-level front-end engineering and design further allows flowsheet design and optimization from a commercial perspective along from the ground-rule that “efficiency is designed into the flowsheet at conceptualization, not after commissioning” (paraphrased, Richard Atkinson, ca. 1995).
